Portland Tags Sacramento with 4-1 Defeat
|
Portland Chinook starter Larry Emerson pitched effectively against the Sacramento Deltas at Devils Ballpark. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 4-1 win. The winning pitcher was Emerson, now 3-3. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 4. Portland has now won 3 in a row.
Portland used a well-timed hit by Roy Gómez to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Chinook ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Chinook manager Artie Herman. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
