Win Makes Oilers 23-12
|
Long Beach rode a good effort from starter Gustavo Longoria to beat the Boise Remuda at Ballpark of Queens. The final score was 4-1. Long Beach reliever Luis De La Gara picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Sal Byrd was tagged with the loss. Pedro Salas got the save, the 12th for him this season.
Reijiro Yamaguchi drove in one run for Long Beach. The 24-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Sal Byrd. It was his 13th RBI of the season.
"I still think this team can play even better," Yamaguchi told the Long Beach Chronicle.
Long Beach, now 23-12, holds down second place in the Humboldt.
