Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Oilers
|
With left fielder Kazunari Ito leading the charge, the Long Beach Oilers defeated the Victoria Orcas, 5-3, at Ballpark of Queens. Ito, who leads the HUM in extra base hits with 17, was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Pedro Salas, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 11th save. Victoria is 13-18 after the defeat.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Oilers grabbed the lead when Ito hit his 7th home run of the season. The 2-run home run off Yasuhide Yasuda made it 5-3, Long Beach.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Ito told the Long Beach Chronicle.
