Tomoyuki Taniguchi left his imprint on the 5-2 Kisarazu Sogo HS win against the Kochi HS Shogun. Taniguchi was 2 for 2 with 2 triples and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Miguel Rodríguez in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Tony Garza took the loss. The win lifts Kisarazu Sogo HS to a record of 2-3.
Taniguchi had a game-changing triple in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-2 cutter from Yoshimi Kojima, he banged a 2-run triple to left-center, giving the Ninja a 4-2 lead. It was the 2nd triple of the year for Taniguchi.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Taniguchi told a Kisarazu Sogo HS Times reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
