Right-hander Coy Alford mesmerized the Central Florida Wicked Witches while leading the West Virginia Sherpas to a 6-0 victory. In 5.2 innings, Alford surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 2. He allowed no runs. West Virginia now sits in 8th place in the Eastern Seaboard Conference at 20-30.

The Sherpas got an important contribution from catcher Gary Goodman, who in the top of the second hit a fastball into right-center for a run-scoring double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Sherpas ahead, 2-0.

Goodman called the win "a collective effort."
