Loss Spoils Fine Performance by Locke
|
Rice first baseman James Locke had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-5, to Washington at Puddings Ballpark. Locke went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Washington has a record of 24-21, placing them 5th in the Western 10 Conference.
Washington used the timely hitting of Geoffrey Claus to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Montlake Malamutes ahead, 7-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Claus.
