Sherpas Ballpark was the site of an exciting ballgame between the West Virginia Sherpas and Rutgers Old Queens.

West Virginia rode a fine outing from starter Coy Alford to victory over the Rutgers Old Queens at Sherpas Ballpark. The final score was 3-2. Domingo Javier, now 1-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. Blaine Jenkins got the save, the 7th for him this season.

West Virginia took a 3-2 lead on Bill Thornton's 9th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Thornton hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Rutgers pitcher Clayton García visibly frustrated.

"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said West Virginia skipper José Guerrero. "It's important to have different ways to do it."

West Virginia is in 9th place in the Eastern Seaboard Conference with a record of 13-27.
