Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for McConaugheys
|
The Marshall McConaugheys faced a tough opponent in UCONN pitcher Dennis Douglas, but did just enough to pull out the victory at McConaugheys Ballpark by a final score of 4-2. Douglas went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Eugene Fields got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. José Arroyo earned the save, his 2nd.
Marshall took a 4-2 lead on Roberto Robles's 9th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off UCONN pitcher Theodore McCann in the bottom of the eighth.
"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Robles. "Those qualities define our team."
The McConaugheys now have a record of 19-8.
