Chili Peppers Edge Past Sea Dawgs, 4-3
The UCLA Chili Peppers defeated the East Carolina Sea Dawgs, 4-3, in United States Collegiate Baseball Association action at Sea Dawgs Ballpark. UCLA pitcher Jorge Gutiérrez had a standout performance. UCLA reliever Dan Parker picked up the win to move to 1-1. Joe Anderson suffered the loss. Mike Martin earned the save, his 10th.

UCLA used a clutch hit from António De La Cruz to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Chili Peppers ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said East Carolina manager Emery MacDonald. "But we decided not to take it."

UCLA is now 17-9.
