Sherpas Drop Evangelists, 4-2
|
West Virginia Sherpas starter Bob Monroe was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Notre Dame Evangelists, 4-2. The win belongs to Harry Somers in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Gunner Wills took the loss for Notre Dame. The 9th-place Sherpas are now 7-16, the Evangelists 8-15.
West Virginia used the timely hitting of John Connall to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 17th inning to put the Sherpas on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Connall called the extra-inning win a "confidence builder."
