Hitmen Down Maulers, 3-2
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the New Jersey Hitmen got the win.
New Jersey starter Chris Pate had a strong outing against the Manchester Maulers at Whiten Field. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 3-2 win. Scott Courtier earned the save for New Jersey, his 11th of the year.
New Jersey used the timely hitting of Bill Johnson to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hitmen on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The most important thing is that we won," Pate said.
Today's win puts New Jersey at 25-19, while Manchester falls to 25-19.
