Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Minnesota Lucky Rodents and the Rice Puddings. Minnesota won it, 1-0. Minnesota starter Kent Sowder was in command. Peter Massey closed the door for Minnesota, picking up his 1st save of the year. With the win, the Lucky Rodents improved to 6-6.

Minnesota right fielder Carlos García contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball into right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 2nd hit of the season and put the Lucky Rodents ahead, 1-0.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Rice manager José González. "The effort was great."
