The West Virginia Sherpas turned back the Seton Hall Rampage, 6-5, at Rampage Stadium. Van George, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 3 times. Sherman Espinosa earned the win for West Virginia. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 3. With the win, he raised his record to 1-1. Blaine Jenkins finished the game for West Virginia and earned his 2nd save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Bob Simmons? The West Virginia second baseman had a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Sherpas on top, 6-3. For the game, Simmons had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Good win for us," said George. "Now we'll focus on the next one."
Seton Hall now is 3-4.
