The performance of Paul Oglethorpe proved critical in helping Reno beat Bakersfield, 7-3. The Zephyrs right fielder was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Martin Brown got the win, improving to 2-1. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Anthony Soame was called on to finish, recording his 8th save.
Reno took a 7-2 lead on Oglethorpe's 5th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off António Sandoval in the top of the eighth, propelled Reno to the win.
In postgame comments to the Reno Gazette, Oglethorpe said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
With the win, Reno has a record of 24-16. Bakersfield falls to 18-24.
