Coqui Fall to Fishermen, 3-0
|
Gloucester Fishermen starter Ernesto Martínez turned in a top-notch performance against the San Juan Coqui at PRTC Stadium. The result was a win for the Fishermen, 3-0. In 6.2 innings, Martínez surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Gloucester is last in the Imperial League Trans Atlantic with a record of 13-25.
The Fishermen got an important contribution from first baseman Norishige Ito, who in the top of the fourth punched a first pitch fastball into left-center for a 2-run double. It was his 5th double of the season and put the Fishermen ahead, 2-0.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Martínez, "and go after the next one."
