Behind a solid performance from second baseman Bartholomeu Sastre, the Rapid City Rushmores defeated the Drumright Tornadoes, 5-4. Sastre went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Rushmores. Kevin Brickey earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record is now 2-2. The Rushmores sit in third place in the Amber Waves League Big Sky with a record of 39-45.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Liam Jory came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Drumright pitcher Julián Adkins, he hit a first pitch splitter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Rapid City on top, 5-4.
"What we get, we earn," Sastre told the Rapid City Daily.
