Well, that's how to end a game in style.
Kingston picked up a win at Jamaica National Baseball Park, bumping off the Rapid City Rushmores, 4-3. Pitcher Terao Ine was a major reason the Suns emerged victorious. The winner in relief was Kunisada Nakada. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 5-1.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Kingston second baseman Dave Tapia, facing Takashi Nakai, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Suns the 4-3 win.
"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Tapia said. "That's how it goes."
The Suns saw their win-loss record go to 24-20. At the same time, the Rushmores fell to 17-27.
