Alleghenies Throttle Fishermen, 6-1

The West Virginia Alleghenies defeated the Gloucester Fishermen, 6-1, in Imperial League action at Watt Powell Field. West Virginia pitcher José Flores had a standout performance. Flores, now 2-1, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. The Fishermen, now 12-22, have lost 4 straight.
The Alleghenies got a big at-bat from right fielder Javier Drake. For the game, Drake went 1-4 with a triple and a walk. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 3rd triple of the season gave West Virginia a 2-1 lead.
"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Flores told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
