The skies opened up and the rain fell at Mall Ratz Stadium.
Edmonton pitcher Sergio Meléndres did his part in helping his team beat the Laval Islanders, 5-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. In 6 innings, Meléndres surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed no runs.
The fans who came to support the Mall Ratz were pleased with the outcome. It was what they had hoped for when they passed through the turnstiles at Mall Ratz Stadium.
"We did a lot of things right," said Meléndres.
The first-place Mall Ratz sport a record of 18-13.
