Highlanders Hang 4-3 Loss on Castillos
|
The Inverness Highlanders defeated the Santurce Castillos, 4-3, in Atlantic Alliance action at Santurce Stadium. Inverness pitcher Arthur Valadez had a standout performance. Naoaki Morita recorded the save for Inverness, his 5th of the season. With the win, Inverness goes to 49-46, while the Castillos fall to 42-53.
The Castillos had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Highlanders going into the top of the third inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old third baseman Jorge Estrada came to the plate. Estrada hit a 2-run home run on a full count fastball from Santurce hurler Mick Hauer. It was Estrada's 10th home run of the year.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Santurce manager Augusto Ramos.
