The Niihama-shi Ghosts beat the Toyama Wind Dancers by a score of 5-3. Niihama-shi left fielder John MacVurich deserved the lion's share of the credit. MacVurich went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Ghosts. Yuji Yamashita, the winner, goes to 5-1. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts over 6.1 innings. The win gives the Ghosts a record of 16-11.
Niihama-shi used the timely hitting of Rien Leeuwenburgh to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Ghosts on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
