Youngstown got a decent performance from pitcher Brett Purkis, but it wasn't enough to beat the Omaha Insurers. Omaha won the Cyclones Stadium contest, 4-3. Purkis threw 6.0 innings allowing 4 runs for the losing team. The winning pitcher was Víctor Castro. His record is now 2-8. The left-hander went 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits for the Insurers. The Thunder, now 34-36, have lost 8 straight.

Richard Sosa dealt the Thunder a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and Omaha trailing 1-0, Sosa, who is tied for 10th in the ATAL in triples with 3, hit a 0-1 fastball for a 2-run single.
