The 6-2 Monterey win over Delaware was due largely to Ed Starks. The Sea Lions first baseman was 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The loss lowers the Delaware record to 12-6.

The game was on the line with two out in the top of the seventh inning, but Alfredo Fernández didn't flinch. With the bases loaded and Delaware trailing 4-2, Fernández retired Lucas van Hal to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Fernández, with a wink.
