The Niigata Gigans got a superb performance from pitcher Jonathan Abley. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Sioux Falls. The Lakota won the game, 6-4. Abley threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. Iván Canseco, credited with the win, is now 3-1. He allowed no runs on no hits. Sioux Falls is now 26-14.

Sioux Falls used the clutch hitting of Kung Tsai to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Lakota ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.

In comments to the Sioux Falls News, Tsai admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
