Lakers Fell Skyelanders, 5-3
|
The Racine Lakers beat the Glendale Skyelanders, 5-3. Racine pitcher and Moriguchi, Japan, native Tamotsu Nagata led the way. The winning pitcher was Nagata, now 2-1. He tossed 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. Racine now has a record of 11-11.
Racine used the clutch hitting of Arnold Kent to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a bases-clearing double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Lakers the lead, 5-0. For the game, Kent had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Racine manager Noburo Kurihara.
