Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Lakers
Racine starter Ramón Noriega pitched well against the Iowa City Kingpins at Laker Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. Carlos Sánchez, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits. Fraser MacDuff got credit for the save for Racine. It was his 4th of the year.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Rick Galloway came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Iowa City pitcher Scott Hodges, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Racine on top, 4-3.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Iowa City skipper Alfred Gómez, "and it cost us."

Iowa City is 5-8 after the loss.
