Ton Goes Off, But Lakers Win
|
Racine and Niigata got after it at Gigans Ballpark.
The Racine Lakers overcame a good performance by Niigata designated hitter Yong-u Ton to knock off Niigata, 7-6, at Gigans Ballpark. Ton went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Carlos Sánchez, 1-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. Ramón Noriega closed the door for Racine, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Racine used the timely hitting of Arnold Kent to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Lakers on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I don't care about style points," Kent said. "I only care about winning."
Racine has a record of 5-4.
