Anchormen Beat Aberdeen, 3-2

Aberdeen got a big-time effort from pitcher Rich Raymond, but it wasn't enough to keep the Newport News Anchormen from winning the game, 3-2. Raymond threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Newport News reliever Lyndon Hoath got the win, raising his record to 5-1. Peter MacLeish was tagged with the loss. The Anchormen now have a record of 39-79.
Had António Gómez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Gómez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Anchormen.
Gómez told a Newport News Today reporter that he was "very satisfied" with the win.
