Red Racers Lose Late, 5-2
|
Chesapeake Bay picked up a win at Ballpark of Chesapeake Bay, toppling the Joplin Red Racers, 5-2. Pitcher Keith Dupree was one of the reasons the Oysters triumphed. Naohiro Seki picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-3. Bernie Beard was tagged with the loss. With the win, the Oysters improved to 65-36.
Chesapeake Bay took a 3-2 lead on Gary Faris's 10th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Faris hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Joplin pitcher Bernie Beard visibly frustrated.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Chesapeake Bay manager Anastasio López. "It's usually not just one thing."
