Oysters Snatch Late Win
|
José Salas pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Mansfield Mohicans, despite Salas's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the Chesapeake Bay Oysters at Ballpark of Chesapeake Bay. Jorge Gallegos earned the save for Chesapeake Bay, his 15th of the year. The second-place Oysters are now 50-30, the Mohicans 51-29.
Chesapeake Bay took a 2-1 lead on Adrián Gutiérrez's 15th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Gutiérrez hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Mansfield pitcher José Salas shaking his head.
"This was a game where every at-bat, every pitch counted," said Gutiérrez.
