Jefferson County Gets 2-1 Road Win
Emílio Martínez was masterful in helping the Jefferson County Independence take down the Mansfield Mohicans, 2-1. The winning pitcher was Martínez, now 3-4. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 5. The save went to Jing-sheng Tian, his 4th this season.

It could have been a different outcome for Jefferson County, had it not been for Royce Greene, the 24-year old left fielder . Greene contributed a solo home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Jefferson County up, 1-0.

"Nice to tuck this win away," said Martínez.

At 31-35, the Independence find themselves in 4th place in the Appalachian Mountain League Central.
