Not everyone stuck through the 43-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.

The Manchester Maulers beat the Kentucky Thoroughbreds by a score of 8-5. Manchester third baseman David Simmons deserved the lion's share of the credit. Simmons hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Maulers. Manchester reliever Arthur Massingham picked up the win to move to 1-0. Valke Petiet suffered the loss.

Early in the game, Simmons had a 2-run home run for Manchester. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Maulers on top, 4-2.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Manchester manager Justin Jackson.

The win lifts Manchester to a record of 8-8.
