7-2 Loss Extends Newport News Losing Streak
The Beantown Browns beat the Newport News Anchormen, 7-2, at Anchormen Stadium. The win was due in part to designated hitter Jun Shibata, who went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. The winner was Silvio Bolt, who threw 98 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 8 hits. Roy Little finished to wrap up his 3rd save.

Beantown relied on the bat of Sadaharu Okamura to get the win. The second baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Browns ahead, 3-1. For the game, Okamura had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Shibata told the Beantown Bulletin. "It's as simple as that."

The win elevated the Browns to 37-19.
