The Leeds Locomotives beat the Santo Domingo Tourists, 2-1, at Rhino Park. Starting pitcher Bob Cruz was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Reliever Zhong-yan Ke picked up the win. His record improves to 2-3. Cisco Ortíz took the loss. The Locomotives, at 23-30, sit in third place in the Appalachian Mountain League Europe and Islands.
The Locomotives procured the win, in large part because of left fielder Ángelo Álvarez. In the bottom of the 11th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Santo Domingo manager Wilton MacGregor.
