Locomotives Suffer 7-5 Setback
The Newport News Anchormen topped the Leeds Locomotives, 7-5, in Appalachian Mountain League action at Anchormen Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Newport News shortstop Hikaru Ishida. Newport News reliever Lyndon Hoath was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Zhong-yan Ke took the loss. The last-place Anchormen sport a record of 15-29.

Newport News took a 6-5 lead on Davey Short's 2nd double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Short hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Leeds pitcher Phil Eldridge shaking his head.

"Good win for us," said Ishida. "Now we'll focus on the next one."
