Tinajon Top Leeds, 4-3
|
The Camaguey Tinajon did just enough to sneak past the Leeds Locomotives, 4-3, at Rhino Park. Camaguey pitcher Alfred Hall, in particular, had a standout performance. The winner was Nelson García in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Gael Allmark took the loss. The Tinajon go to 12-17, putting them third in the Appalachian Mountain League Europe and Islands.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Dan Hensley came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Leeds pitcher Gael Allmark, he hit a 1-0 knuckle curve for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Camaguey on top, 4-2.
"I like what I saw today," said Camaguey manager Brad Porter, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
