Fayetteville got a strong outing from Ernesto Pérez as the Braggarts defeated the Aberdeen Golden Sands, 4-2, at Ballpark of Fayetteville. Pérez went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 4, and struck out 7. His record improves to 2-1. The save went to Juan Pérez, his 3rd this season.
The Braggarts got an important contribution from catcher Karsten Koertig, who in the bottom of the first punched a first pitch curveball into right for a 2-run triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Braggarts ahead, 3-0.
Pérez told a Fayetteville Herald reporter that he was "very satisfied" with the win.
With the loss, Aberdeen falls to 7-7.
