Had Alberto Gómes not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Gómes hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Mohicans.
"If we keep winning the close games," Gómes said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
