Championship Goes the Distance, Mogadishu Prevails
|
It went the distance, but the Mogadishu Pirates finally disposed of the Aruba Wahoos 5-4 in the series clincher at The Fish Bowl.
Winning the finale gave the Pirates the series, 3-2. They will now advance to the IBC Cup.
The Most Valuable Player Award went to Mogadishu left fielder Ed Gates. He batted .350 in the series, collecting 2 RBIs and scoring 1 runs.
"Ed deserves it," said Pirates manager Juan Flores. "He was the glue that held our club together."
The Mogadishu Pirates will play against the Kabsabet Duba in the next round. Kabsabet won their series against the Melbourne Bitters 3 games to 1. The IBC Cup schedule will be announced after the Championship finishes.
