The Scottish Claymores got a stellar performance from pitcher Carl Ford, who handcuffed the Amsterdam offense en route to a win, 3-0, at The Castle. Scottish, at 69-41, holds down first place in the Imperial League Trans Atlantic.

The Claymores got a big hit from second baseman Eric Nelson. In the bottom of the sixth, Nelson pounded a run-scoring double to right. His 23rd double of the season put the Claymores ahead, 2-0.

Nelson was in a reflective mood after the contest. He told the Scottish Times, "Every game is it's own challenge. That's what keeps the competitive fire alive."
