The Bakersfield Bears topped the Aurora Borealis, 5-4, in Sovereign League action at The Oaks at Aera Field. The standout performance belonged to Bakersfield pitcher and Highlands Ranch, Colorado, native Derrick Harvey. The winning pitcher was Harvey, now 3-3. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 5. António Sandoval, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 10th save.

Making an impact for the home team was Nikita Goulding. In the bottom of the second, the 25-year old center fielder had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. That made the score 2-0, Bears.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Harvey told a Bakersfield Daily reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."

Bakersfield now sits in 5th place in the Sovereign League Desert Hills at 46-62.
