In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The Kauai Monsters had to overcome a fine effort from Yasu pitcher Eugene Lewis to grab a narrow 4-3 win at Brewers Ballpark. Lewis went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. The winner was Owen Rackham in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Jorge Mata took the loss. Lloyd Willerton, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 12th save.
Tokuma Kogawa chipped in for Kauai, stroking a crucial 2-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning. For the game, the left fielder was 2-4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Kogawa said.
Kauai currently is in first place in the Hawaiian League Archipelago at 55-25.
