Battousai Beat Fushigi Yugi, 3-2
|
The Edo Battousai took Fushigi Yugi pitcher Roberto Guzmán's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Newark Grounds. The final score had Edo getting past the Celestial Warriors, 3-2. Guzmán went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 7. Edo reliever Akira Uchida picked up the win, raising his record to 3-1. Roberto Guzmán was tagged with the loss. Brad Robinson earned the save, his 32nd, for the Battousai.
Edo took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, when William Allen hit a clutch solo home run to bring Battousai fans to their feet.
After the game, Allen refused to speak to a reporter for the Edo Times. "You've accused me of throwing teammates under the bus," he said. "So, excuse me if I decline to answer your questions."
Edo now sits in first place in the Trinity at 73-43.
