The exploits of center fielder Cliff de Best helped the San Juan Coqui defeat the West Virginia Alleghenies, 5-2. de Best was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Juan Menéndez in relief. His record improves to 1-0. José Flores took the loss. With the loss, West Virginia sinks to 8-3.

de Best had a timely hit for San Juan in the bottom of the seventh. With West Virginia trailing 2-1, he turned a 1-0 fastball into a 2-run double. It was his 2nd double of the season, making it 3-2, San Juan.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," de Best told the San Juan Citizen.
