Cairo Falls, 3-1, as Skid Hits 7 Games

In a low-scoring affair between the Asmara Modernists and the Cairo Pharaohs, pitcher Aaron Gledhill was the difference between victory and defeat. The Asmara right-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 Modernists win. Juan Ruíz was called on to finish, recording his 11th save. Asmara is now 41-40, while Cairo is 18-63.
Asmara took a 3-1 lead on Ieyoshi Fukushima's 10th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Fukushima hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Cairo pitcher Javier Torres shaking his head.
"Not to be Captain Obvious," said Cairo manager Randolph Stevens, "but we need to push more runs across the plate."
