Soldato Saddle Duba with 4-2 Loss
|
The Djibouti Soldato had to overcome a big game from Kabsabet second baseman Jack Tate to leave Duba Ballpark with a victory. And they did, winning 4-2. Tate went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Wen Bing, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 4 hits, while walking 5 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 6-6. Albert Hayes converted his 6th save in 6 tries.
Joseph Villegas, the 19-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Villegas contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put Djibouti up, 3-0.
After the game, Djibouti manager Yoshida Okubo applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
At 35-40, the Soldato claim 5th place in the Intercontinental Baseball Coalition Red Sea League.
