Pharaohs Dealt 5-4 Home Loss
|
The Khartoum Raiders topped the Cairo Pharaohs, 5-4, in Intercontinental Baseball Coalition action at Ramses II Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Khartoum pitcher and Boca Chica, Dominican Republic, native José Liñares. In 6.2 innings, Liñares surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Blaine Morgan was credited with the save for Khartoum, his 11th of the season.
Khartoum used a well-timed hit by Sancho Burgos to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Raiders ahead, 5-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Liñares.
The Raiders go to 27-26, putting them 4th in the Intercontinental Baseball Coalition Red Sea League.
