The Brisbane Stevedores did just enough to sneak past the Melbourne Bitters, 2-1, at Victoria Field. Brisbane pitcher Martín Rosa, in particular, had a standout performance. Brisbane reliever Salvador Hernández got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Katsuhiko Hashimoto was tagged with the loss. Earning his 6th save for Brisbane was Graham Geary.
Brisbane used a clutch hit from Francisco Cisneros to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Stevedores ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This was a tough loss," said Melbourne manager Travis Mitchell. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
With the victory, the Stevedores record now stands at 26-23.
