Raymond Ammacapane pitched well, but his team, the Auckland Aces BC, still dropped a 3-0 decision to the Tauranga Taniwha at Baypark at the Mount. Tauranga reliever Gjelt Salij got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Raymond Ammacapane was tagged with the loss. Tauranga is now 9-26. Auckland is 17-18.
Making an impact for the home team was Theo Slipper. In the bottom of the second, the 19-year old left fielder had a run-scoring ground out. That made the score 2-0, Taniwha.
Slipper called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
