Good production from first baseman Ramón Guzmán helped the Niihama-shi Ghosts topple the Reno Zephyrs, 5-1. Guzmán went 4-4 with 2 triples, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs for the Ghosts. Luppe van Dam picked up the win, improving his season record to 9-3. He struck out 6 in 6 innings. The Ghosts have an impressive 58-32 record.

In the top of the seventh, Nikolay Rusanovsky stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Zephyrs were trailing 4-1, but had runners on 2nd and 3rd. That's when Shohei Murakami made a terrific pitch and Rusanovsky grounded out. Gone was the dream of a Reno comeback.
